What is Beautiful?!?!

How do you respond to the arguments that have been made in this week's reading?

In the article, “Decoding Victoria’s Secret” it says the beautiful female body can sell anything, but that’s not my or most women’s definition of beauty, the beauty they’re referring to is the plastic unrealistic beauty, it’s that definition of beauty right there that is killing women’s view on their bodies and making them feel ugly!

Is our popular culture healthy in regards to beauty?

NO! In no way, shape, or form is our society’s view of beauty healthy!! Not just in America, but also in our global society, the idea of beauty has been reduced down to a very shallow definition; and a very high standard of beauty that most women can’t ever achieve.

Do we focus on physical appearance too much?

We focus on outward, physical appearance way too much; it's time that our society realizes that beauty is not only outward, but inward also; it’s time to push past the unrealistic, shallow view of beauty that our society has, and show the world that beauty is more than skin deep; beauty also comes from within, our happiness, our love, and all our little strength that each and every one of us possess, are all attributes that make up our own personal beauty. Beauty comes is any shape, color, and size; everyone has flaws, yet those are the things that make us beautiful.

  1. The week this question was asked, the readings were "Ten Seconds to Love," "Only 2 Percent of Women Describe Themselves as Beautiful," and "Why Do We Hate the Human Body." What are the arguments from those readings that you wish to address in your post?
